Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
LexisNexis is a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions designed specifically for professionals in the legal, risk management, corporate, government, law enforcement, accounting and academic markets. LexisNexis operates in over 175 countries, with more than 10,000 employees worldwide. The company integrates information from more than 45,000 legal, news and business sources, to provide customers access to billions of searchable documents and records.
LexisNexis is looking to build a unified global marketing solution that will serve their entire clientele, allowing optimization of services worldwide. Accomplishing this solution requires combining data sources from all countries into a single mastered dataset. However, onboarding new countries into a single system poses various challenges:
- Each country has their own disparate IT solution with their own set of products and processes, all of which need to be incorporated.
- The process for collecting and processing data is manual, slow, costly, and relies on antiquated technology such as Microsoft Office.
- Prospect data cannot be trusted, due to poor data quality. For example, there are instances of missing client addresses and duplicate records.
With marketing campaigns that rely on untrusted data quality, without a single global view of products and customers, it is very difficult to properly market new products to existing clients or target new ones. A major streamline to the company’s data processing is needed to expand marketing efforts, increase global reach, and save both time and money.
Eccella is able to streamline and revitalize LexisNexis’ marketing efforts by creating a Global Marketing Data Warehouse (GMDW) that leverages a new mastered data system for all prospects. The GMDW enables simplification and optimization by implementing a globally usable data structure to support the enrichment, management and usability of prospective customer data. By consolidating information from different systems into a single data mart, the reusable common interface allows for faster onboarding of countries and data querying, eliminating the need to query various data systems independently and manually bring the results together. The GMDW also enables fast data quality improvements by creating global data matching protocols. This functionality is applied to all in-bound source data, and resolves common issues such as missing addresses or duplicate records. Eccella also improves LexisNexis’ web services’ data quality problems by decoupling application interfaces and imposing new quality assurance rules.
Eccella uses the latest Informatica Master Data Management (MDM) solution to simplify and streamline LexisNexis’ operations. This is achieved by supporting a data structure that enriches, manages and easily utilizes prospective customer data, as well as eliminates redundant data, with the utilization of a customer master. Relying on Eccella’s implementation accelerators, the MDM solution that would typically take over a year to implement, was implemented in less than half that time. Lastly, to ensure LexisNexis can scale with the system to additional countries, Eccella deploys its Business Data Quality Monitoring (BDQM) solution. The BDQM helps achieve proper visibility to the data and manage its usability, while reducing the time to identify and fix data issues.
